Finally! I have gotten around to writing my Ascendant Sign/ Sun sign analysis of Eleanor. If you read my posts of the other characters on Facebook, pardon me for taking such a long time to get to her. She is a fan favorite so I suppose I intimidated myself figuring out which Sun and Ascendant I should use. I know the show labels her a Libra, but I have other ideas. As with the others I am not taking into account possible planet placements (which would have honestly made this easier to do) and only focusing on the Ascendant Sign, the placement of the Sun and the houses.
I really love this show and the characters are like extreme version of the signs.
The Good Place: Eleanor ShellStrop
Astrological Character Analysis
Eleanor was not a very liked character as a human on Earth. She was stubborn, selfish, insanely rude and uncouth and quite frankly the epitome of a basic bitch. She thought only herself and lived her life as a loner despite having “friends” and being surrounded by groups of people on a regular basis.
The absolute first thing that gave me Cancer rising was the manner of her death. She dropped her margarita mix in the grocery store parking lot, was hit and dragged by a row of shopping carts in front of an erectile dysfunction truck where she met her doom on impact. An impact death is Aquarius in the 8th house. The fact she was at a grocery store would put food in her presence as a Taurus Sun, her death occurring in public by a sex truck. (Taurus in the 11th house oppose Scorpio in the 5th). The EMT on the scene also happened to be her ex-boyfriend. As both a Cancer Rising and Taurus Sun her lovers and partners would be present at her passing (Scorpio in the 5th and Scorpio in the 7th of her solar chart).
Being a Cancer Rising also describe her rudeness, selfishness and her uncouth manner. She loved to curse and was known for saying some pretty outrageous things without regard for how it made others feel. When she needed to say something she usually didn’t, much to her own sorrow.
Eleanor: Oh, so now I’m supposed to be nice and make friends and treat her with mutual respect?
Chidi: Yeah!
Eleanor: That’s exactly what she wants me to do, Chidi, wake up!
Chidi: That’s what everyone wants everyone to do.

Gemini in the 12th house speaks to her inability to discern when and when not to say things and also what to say and what not to say. Her selfishness and ultimate desire to be alone is Aries in the 10th house, but as a Taurus Sun it is also the cause of her undoing, having Aries in the 12th. She also has no problems lying and eventually discovers moral reasons to do so (Gemini in the 2nd house of her Sun).
She despises social groups of any kind being suspicious of their motives at all times. This would be the polarity (opposition) of Taurus in the 11th and Scorpio in the 5th. Consequently her morals are obtained by her social groups. If she surrounds herself with immoral individuals she herself will be the same which was seen in her living self and the stark difference in her afterlife when her moral improvement occurred with her new friends, who were also invested in improving themselves.
When it came to her parents I was almost inclined to use Virgo Sun instead of Taurus to describe their use of alcohol and narcotics and being absent, but I believe the characteristics of both Aries/Libra and Leo/Aquarius, with her being a Cancer Rising, Taurus Sun fit much better for her mother and father. Both of them were self centered and detached teaching their daughter to focus only on herself (Aries/Aquarius in the 10th house). Her mother was attention seeking, ran the house like a Queen, and constantly dealt with the law and contracts. (She faked her own death to avoid paying $30,000 at an action for a date with Gene Simmons). When Eleanor was a young teen she had her parents sign her emancipation papers and struck out on her own. (Aquarius in the solar 10th: sudden independence).
When it comes to her relationships, sex is a huge part of it. Not only is it the staple of most of her conversations, she’s also bi-sexual and anytime with her lover Chidi is a good time to have sex. Even in hell and two inches from the door to heaven, Eleanor was always ready to do it. (Scorpio in both the 5th house of her Ascendant and 7th house of her Sun in Taurus.)
Ultimately she learns both how to be selfless and moral through the help of her friends in the afterlife (Taurus in the 11th house of her natal and Aries in the 12th of her Solar chart). Learning, especially philosophy from her foreign ethics teacher, in the spirit world would be indicated by Pisces in the 9th house as a Cancer rising. A final tidbit to include would be her having sex with this foreigner (Sagittarius in the 8th house of her Solar Chart) and her resentment for clowns, as Taurus Sun.
